IMF projects Egypt’s budget deficit to decline to 9.4% of GDP in FY2015/16

International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected Egypt’s budget deficit to decline to 9.4% of GDP in FY2015/16, compared to 11.7% in FY2014/15. This came in IMF’s recent report “IMF Regional Economic Outlook, Middle East and Central Asia, October 2015”. This improvement follows a budget deficit of 13.6% of GDP in FY2013/14. Furthermore, IMF has kept its projection for Egypt’s GDP growth for FY2014/15 at 4.2% and FY2015/16 at 4.3%.
